While some psychotherapists choose to operate within a specific theoretical framework, I prefer to combine various methods and approaches to meet the individual needs of my clients. My methods are grounded in a deep belief that everyone deserves to feel empowered and free. Therefore, my greatest goal is to help my clients discover their own beauty and potential, so they may live with confidence and freedom.

The goal of therapy is to provide a nonjudgmental environment that allows the client and therapist to work together toward psychological healing. The methods I employ are tailored around the individual client’s needs, symptoms, and personality. I have specialized training in various modalities of therapy, and those which I have witnessed the highest success rates include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transpersonal Counseling, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, Yoga, and Meditation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy helps to recognize negative thought patterns and behaviors in order to break the cycle of dysfunctional habitual behaviors. This method helps people see the connection between how they think, what they tell themselves, and the feelings and actions that follow those thoughts.

Client-Centered Therapy

Client-Centered Therapy is a non-directive form of talk therapy. This method allows the client to lead the discussion without the therapist’s steering, even in subtle ways. This allows the therapist to let go of his or her own agenda, which gives the client access to discovery and true empowerment. This approach is based on the belief that people are fundamentally good with a strong desire to reach their fullest potential.

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt Therapy is an experiential form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the individual’s experience in the present moment. This method strongly relies on the therapist-client relationship and a safe environment. Gestalt Therapy is an awareness practice. The objective is to allow the client to become more fully and creatively alive and to become free from the blocks of unfinished business that diminish satisfaction and growth.

Transpersonal Psychology

Transpersonal Psychology takes a holistic view of human psychology. Rather than looking at psychology from the perspective of mental health or illness, this method views psychological experience along the realm of human spiritual phenomena that may include mystical or religious experiences, intuition, creativity, and different states of consciousness. The word “transpersonal” translates to beyond self. Transpersonal therapy doesn’t focus on a person’s body and mind, but more so on the health of a person’s spirit.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness Therapy encourages patients to focus on their breathing and their bodies, to notice but not judge their thoughts, and to generally live in the moment. This form of therapy instructs clients to recognize their sense of being and to see themselves as separate from their thoughts and moods. This disconnect allows clients to be free from obsessive thought patterns that often replay negative messages.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy is a form of body-oriented therapy. It recognizes that every intricacy of human experience is connected and that each element of the body, mind, and spirit work together to compliment and contrast in order to create a complete, whole person. This form of therapy is an embodied experience that makes no distinction between body and mind. The belief at the core of this method is that the body represents an enormous field of awareness.

Yoga and Meditation

In the western world, most people do yoga for the fitness and flexibility benefits. However, from its origins in the East, yoga has always been a physical, mental, and spiritual practice. Yoga is not just poses; it also incorporates breathing and meditation. This practice promotes harmony and balance at the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual levels. Meditation through movement is incredibly beneficial for overall health and wellness.
